Program Description and Benefits:
Join us for a discussion on Charitable Lead Trusts (CLTs) and Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs) and most of the permutations thereof, including CLATs, Shark-fin CLATs, CRUTs, and NI-, NIM- and FLIPCRUTs, with frequent illustrations. Beginning with an overview of the general rules for CRTs and CLTs, the presentation will delve into several different areas, including the taxation of both types, and the potential impact of both interest rates and market volatility on annuities vs. unitrusts and CRTs vs. CLTs. While pointing out some of the pitfalls, this session will also lay out which structures are best-suited for accomplishing particular client objectives, such as intergenerational wealth transfer, tax deferral, reducing investment concentrations, and stretch IRA treatment, in addition to the expected income and/or transfer tax benefits.
