DESCRIPTION:\nProgram Description and Benefits: \nTech entrepreneurs frequently present unique challenges for estate planners, including hard-to-value assets, the tech market’s breakneck pace and a hesitancy to focus on transfer tax planning due to the entrepreneur’s age and family stage. In this session, we will examine ways of tackling these difficulties in order to remove appreciation in the value of intellectual property and tech business interests from an entrepreneur’s taxable estate, while also addressing such entrepreneur’s need for liquidity and fear of discouraging a future company sale or investment.  Additionally, we will look at the mechanics of such a transfer, including the elements of an effective transfer of intellectual property and corporate and securities law issues to keep in mind. \n \n \nSpeaker Biography: \nJennifer B. Goode is a Founding Partner of Birchstone Moore LLC, a boutique law firm focusing on estate planning and estate administration. In her practice, Ms. Goode assists clients of varying wealth levels with their estate planning, business succession planning and estate and trust administration needs. Ms. Goode is an active member of the Washington estate planning community, serving as a past Chair of the Estate Planning Committee for the D.C. Bar’s Taxation Community and a frequent lecturer at both the D.C.
