DESCRIPTION:\nProgram Description and Benefits: \nIn this session, Mr. Jacobs will offer strategic insights on culturally-sensitive ways to deal with clients who come from the LGBT community, ranging from initial intake differences, to discussions with clients about their objectives, and ultimately to the way documents might be drafted. He also will talk about reasons to encourage LGBT individuals and couples to include charitable bequests in their estate plan and ways to address their philanthropic goals through planned giving. Mr. Jacobs will interweave anecdotes from his more than twenty-five years of experience providing legal and estate-planning advice to both traditional and same-sex couples. \n \n \nSpeaker Biography: \nMr. Jacobs is a shareholder at McMillan Metro, P.C. and has practiced law for more than 44 years. He is admitted to the bar in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. His practice areas focus on pre-nuptial and partnership agreements, and estate planning. He has been an advisor for more than 600 same-sex couples looking to protect their partners or spouses and their families.
