She earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Washington College of Law at American University in 1989.\n\nMary Jo has been recognized as a Maryland Super LawyerÂ® in Elder Law from 2020 through 2026 and as a Top Attorney in Elder Law by Bethesda Magazine from 2021 through 2026. She served two terms as Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association Elder Law and Disability Rights Section and previously served as Chair of the Montgomery County Bar Association Elder Law Section from 2015 through 2023.\n\nShe has also held leadership positions with the Maryland and D.C. Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, serving as Vice Chair from 2020 through 2022 and Secretary from 2013 through 2019. She currently serves as a member of the MSBA Elder Law Section Council.\n\nAbigail Wolf Stanton, Esq.\n\nAbigail Wolf Stanton is an attorney at The Elder & Disability Law Center, where she leads the firm's long-term care Medicaid planning, estate planning, life care planning and management, and special needs planning practices.\n\nAbigail assists seniors and their families with navigating the challenges associated with aging, including planning for disability, dementia or diminished capacity, as well as asset protection planning.
